Bordeaux CIC-IT

About Us

The Centre for Innovative Technology - which was created in 2001 on the topic of Biomaterials at the University Hospital of Bordeaux - was labelled as the CIC-IT Biomatériaux by the INSERM/ DHOS (Ministry of Health) in 2008. Along with the CIC-P and the CIC-EC, it constitutes one of the 3 modules making up the CIC of Bordeaux. It leans on the 577 (Bordeaux) and 791 (Nantes) INSERM units with which it takes part in research programs, in partnership with clinicians.

The CIC-IT is also active in federating skills in the field of Biomaterials and Bioimplants in the Aquitaine region through 2ACBIassociation. It has access to powerful laboratories (histology, P2 cell culture) and equipment (surgery blocks and longitudinal follow-up in imaging for big and small animals), thanks to its settlement in PTIB (Plateforme Technologique d’Innovation Biomédicale).

Our Specializations

Tackling altogether innovative biomaterials and the assessment of their biocompatibility in a scientific and clinical high-tech environment in two main areas (bone and vessel substitution), among others.

Establishing the proof of concept of a medical device for its use within the medical department and/or as a collaboration tool to work with researchers, clinicians and industrialists, covering all the steps from physical and chimical characterisation to pilot clinical study.

Ensuring the design, research and development of new models for in vitro and in vivo studies, with a view to innovating in terms of procedures or organization.

Coordinators

Pr Laurence Bordenave (medical coordinator), Dr Marlène Durand (technical coordinator) - together with a team of five people (engineers: cell culture, histology, preclinical in vivo and in vivo bench studies, clinical trials, and a secretary) and the expertise and counselling of hospital clinicians - are in charge of the scientific, medical and technical aspects of Bordeaux CIC-IT management.
